Project Overview
The Village of Algonquin has completed the third phase of its major Downtown Streetscape project, which included significant infrastructure investments to improve sanitary sewer and water systems. These improvements addressed the capacity of the water system to increase conveyance within the sanity sewer collection system to accommodate future development, as well as reduce sanitary sewer backups for residents. |

Water Main Improvements:
Harrison Street at Algonquin Road (Route 62)
Along La Fox River Drive from Center Street to Washington Street
Washington Street from Main Street to Harrison Street
- Installation of new water main at:
Harrison Street at Algonquin Road (Route 62)
Along La Fox River Drive from Center Street to Washington Street
Washington Street from Main Street to Harrison Street
- Added short segment of 12” water main at the intersection of Main Street and Algonquin Road (Route 62) to connect the work completed in previous phases.
- Extended 16” transmission main along Harrison Street from Crystal Creek to Algonquin Road (Route 62) and connect to existing mains in the intersection of Harrison Street and Algonquin Road.

The construction work was broken into seven stages to minimize impacts to property owners.

- During construction, there were temporary detours. Detour information was posted here and shared with those who signed up for email updates.
- Removal of the Prairie Trail bike bridge and abutments over La Fox River Drive. The bridge was replaced with a new bridge that ties architecturally into the Downtown Streetscape, as part of the proposed Trail Improvements Project.
- Road restoration work included resurfacing La Fox River Drive from South Main Street up to Cornish Park, as well as the block between La Fox River Drive and Harrison Street on Washington Street. Road patching occurred on Washington Street between Harrison and Main streets, as well as Harrison Street from Washington to Front streets.
