About the ProjectThe Village of Algonquin is continuing to implement the Downtown Revitalization Plan and provide physical improvement and beautification to the downtown area. The plan created a vision to enhance the characteristics of the area and attract visitors and businesses to the downtown. The next phase of the project will address Harrison and Washington streets and bring the same charm and character from Main Street to these adjacent roadways. The Village is also incorporating a flex-street design on Washington Street between Harrison and Main streets. This design includes no raised curb and is intended to provide a more pedestrian friendly atmosphere that can better accommodate public gatherings and events. Additionally, on that same stretch of road, there will be catenary lighting that spans above the road to enhance the nighttime ambiance.
