Old Town Main Street had a mixture of streetscape and materials, creating a fragmented feel. The older sidewalk was a combination of concrete and clay pavers while the roadway was too wide. This area lacked the appropriate amenities to create a comfortable pedestrian environment. The images below show the transformation of Old Town Main Street.
The Old Town Algonquin project worked to restore old town charm to Main Street with new brick sidewalks and new stoops and decorative handrails in front of businesses.
